Losing Weight Healthy Way is a collection of logs and records from my journey towards fittest and healthy me. I believe and hope that it will encourage and help aspire at least a few people to make a change in their life style to become a healthy and fitter person. In this blog I will be writing and sharing about everything that I did which worked on my body. I will be sharing resources that I followed and will be recording videos of me working out and post them here. Hopefully they will help. I just want to clarify that I am not endorsing all the resources and I will definitely recommend everyone to get their body checked before starting any health, diet and fitness routine. I will help to share my consultation if needed or provide links and contacts to some people I look up to in the field of Ayurveda, Yoga, Health and Fitness Field.

According to Ayurveda and me in order to be completely healthy we need to be healthy at 3 Levels:

    1. Physically
    2. Mentally
    3. Spiritually

I am going to focus and share the elements of the first one in this blog.

In order to work on our physical health there are 3 main elements we need to work on.

    1. Diet
    2. Exercise
    3. Stress

Diet - Ayurveda

According to Ayurveda you have to eat according to your body type. There are 3 main types. My First recommendation is to get yourself checked for your body type. I am free to help you if you need what is your body type but I will recommend consulting an expert. My body type is mainly Kapha. So I had to add a lot of garlic, lemon, chillies and spices to my diet in order to aid the digestion of food.

We are living in a world where a lot of people have been preparing food for us. Lot of our food is processed with chemicals. There is not enough care that goes in our food as may have been going into the preparation of food earlier. In short we accumulate lot of toxins in our body which lead to weight gain. People are often obsessed with fats, but more importantly than fat, it is the processed food, sugars and various toxins that leads to unnatural and unnecessary weight gain. The weight you should definitely get rid of. So my first step towards weight loss was to add a detoxifying agent to my meal every day.

Here is a list of detoxifying agents I have added to my diet. You should get yourself checked and add good natural detoxifying agents to your diet. I started drinking warm water with lemon squeezed in and with some turmeric and paprika powder added to detox. I take it throughout the day and with my meal. You could use a proven recipe as described in Master Cleanse Program. I made some modification to the recipe for taste and I did not eliminate my regular food intake. I started taking one portion of my meal less than what I was taking earlier. Those were some of the changed that I did to my diet. Please get your body checked and add a detoxifying agent to your diet according to your body type.

Exercise - Yoga

If you want to be physically fit, you have to be active. Unfortunately with today's lifestyle and with most people sedentary lifestyle, this is a challenge. I did the following three things in order to get some exercise in my routine.

    1. Walking: I started walking atleast 12000 steps a day which is roughly 90 minutes a day worth of walk. This is easy to add if done at a brisk pace. Instead of taking car, bike or scooter for every short distance commute, walk, jog, run or bike. Its easy. Technology can help you find out how to do this. Just search for a pedometer app on your smartphone and use it wisely
    2. Yoga Stretches: When you wake up in the morning do 10-15 minute of stretches. I have posted a link to some stretches that I do in the resources section. I will be posting my video soon.
    2. Yoga Inspired Plank Circuits: In the evening when you come back home from work do planks for 10 - 15 minutes. I have posted a link to plank circuits that I do in the resources section. I will be posting my video soon.

Stress Management - Meditation

Stress is one of the biggest reason for weight gain. Remove and completely eliminate stress from your life in order to become a fitter you.
Take proper 6 - 8 hour sleep.
Meditate. Listen to music. Play. Relax
